On the slow entryway
Why the first eight feet of a house deserve more attention than the last eight thousand dollars of furniture.
Vol. 11 · Spring Folio
Debby Rask is a full-service interior design studio working with families and small businesses across the Hudson Valley, Brooklyn, and Western Mass. We build slow, layered rooms that hold up to ordinary Tuesday afternoons.

Featured Project
Full renovation of a 1902 farmhouse in Columbia County. We kept the original oak floors and rebuilt the kitchen around honed Calacatta, unlacquered brass, and a plaster range hood — the kind of details that look like they were always there.
Philosophy
"A good room is a long conversation between the things you've gathered and the light you actually live in. Our work is to listen carefully on both sides."
— Debby Rask, Founder

Field Notes

Essay · 6 min
Why the first eight feet of a house deserve more attention than the last eight thousand dollars of furniture.

Notebook · 3 min
A short list of the cloth we specify again and again, and the small mills that still make it the old way.
We take on a small number of full-service projects each year and a handful of e-design folios each season. Tell us about your home — we read every note ourselves.
